Anatomy of a Skeletal Muscle Cell

Skeletal Muscles are straited, multinucleated and voluntary. There purpose is to move bones.


Myofibril:An organelle in a muscle fiber composed of filaments.

Sarcolemma: It is the cell membrane.

Sarcoplasmic reticulum: Contains calcium ions to produce muscle contractions.

Sacromere: The single unit of a muscle cell.

Z disc:At the beginning and end of the sacromere.

I-band: Contains only the thin myofilaments

H-Zone: Contains only the thick myofilaments

A-Band: Contains only thick and thin filaments.
